NYU Welcome (formerly NYU Welcome Week) was one of the major aspects of my student affairs work for nearly 10 years. It’s been amazing to see how the program has evolved over the years but essentially, the idea is to provide opportunities so that every new student to New York University feels welcomed to the university community. We did it big - hosting over 500 events in one week, with over 350 energetic student leaders. But the magic of NYU Welcome is so much more than that. It’s powerful to be a part of something so much bigger than ourselves - creating a community where students truly feel seen and know they matter.
The thing I love most about NYU Welcome is that so much passion and creativity was infused throughout the production process which included:
Co-creating the Branding Style Guide with a new theme every year with talented NYU students (including one of my favorite former student graphic designers Hillary who helped me design this website)
Incredibly aesthetic brand applications for promo graphics, tshirts, flash tatts, & video visuals
Recruitment, applications, interviews, and evaluating 600+ applicants to select 350+ student leaders, then training and supervising students passionate about making the community a more inviting place
Producing thrilling social media engagement pieces - especially the iconic annual hype video
Dreaming up, planning details, & managing incredible events including Presidential Welcome & Reality Show that we’ve hosted at iconic NYC venues at the Radio City Music Hall, Barclay’s Center, and Madison Square Garden Hulu Theatre
