Establishing this college scholarship has been one of my most important goals. My parents instilled in me a belief in education as a pathway for opportunity and to always remember what I come from. As a first generation college student, I recognize the impact that the $20,000 in local scholarships I received provided a jumpstart to my college access. I felt so supported by my hometown and made it a goal to come back some day and try to do the same for future Vacaville kids with big dreams. On the 10th anniversary of my high school graduation, I made one of my biggest dreams come true: established the Villacampa Family Scholarship for First Generation College Students. Annually, my parents and I select one first generation college student from my high school to receive a $1000 scholarship and a 1:1 video conversation with myself the summer before they start college. My vision is that in 20 years, I will have given back that jumpstart to my community.
